Dr. Iftikhar “Ifty” Ahmad, MD, MBA, FSIR
Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, known by his friends lovingly as “Ifty”, was born in Peshawar, Pakistan. He completed his medical school from Khyber Medical College. He got his initial training in Radiology from The Aga Khan University, Karachi. In the US, Dr. Ahmad did his radiology residency at State University of New York at Buffalo, his Neuro-Radiology fellowship from State University of New York at Syracuse, and his fellowship in Interventional Radiology at State University of New York at Buffalo.
During his academic career, Dr. Ahmad was Assistant Professor of Radiology at Indiana University, and Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at University of Pittsburgh. He also acted as Director of Interventional Radiology and Interim-Chairman of the Department of Radiology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Shadyside campus). He is a distinguished member of the Society of Interventional Radiology and has earned the title of Fellow for his pursuit in clinical knowledge and excellence.
Dr. Ahmad has to his credit many peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed research articles as well as book chapters. He has been invited by many national and international scientific organizations to speak at their meetings. Dr. Ahmad has the honor of being a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology. He also enjoys the love of learning and recently completed his MBA from the New York Institute of Technology.
On the personal level, he is father of two beautiful young ladies and husband to a loving wife. He enjoys reading books on philosophy and psychology. In his free time, he likes playing squash and tries to maintain his pilot license. He and his wife enjoy off-Broadway independent theater.
